Lives and works in London, UK

Born in 1987, Cara Nahaul is an artist who lives and works in London. She completed a BA at Goldsmiths University in London and an MA in Fine Art at Parsons The New School for Design in New York.

She has twice been shortlisted for the John Moores Prize, was awarded the inaugural Jerwood Painting Fellowship, was nominated for the Contemporary British Painting Prize and completed a year-long artist residency at the Florence Trust.

Using landscape as her primary subject, Cara Nahaul examines personal and universal histories, memory and identity.

Her work is influenced by research, travel and memories from her family archive. Inspired by childhood visits to Malaysia and Mauritius, her paintings encourage viewers to reflect on their own histories. Her works break down boundaries and suggest that interiors and landscapes can serve as receptacles for deep introspection.
